December has been difficult for writing, mostly because I’m not doing it. I took some time off, I got 1,900 words or so, and then took some more time off. Writers are lazyhearted and much more averse to writing than anyone could ever suspect. The ideas, the thinking about how great the story will be - is the fun part.  December comes with a feeling of boredom.  All weekend, it felt like there was something that I was supposed to be doing.  and then it hit me - novel took up lots of my spare time.  I went straight from the end of Magestry to 1,600 words a day, and now... So I broke 20,000 today. I'm well on my way to eating up the last of my word deficit, and am prepared to sail onward to mid-month, feeling footloose and fancy-free.

I'm in a daze.  I just hit the battery life of the ipaq, making me type ever so much more furiously.  checking the word count before the nightly backup (I am terrified of losing this file) I saw 10,067. t’s less than one day until NaNoWriMo, and I am pumped.  I began principal research on the 25th, and maintain an air of guarded optimism as to its successful completion.   In one Month, I am going to write a 50,000 word novel.  It can be done - there is proof.  (www.nanowrimo.org)
